Mouth Trap by TypeDM

Effective date: 24 September 2026

Mouth Trap is a pass-the-phone party word game for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android and Chromebook, published by TypeDM (“we”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you play.

The short version: you can play without an account, and then your games stay on your device. If you choose to create a free Mouth Trap profile, we store your email address, profile name, custom decks and House Rules so they sync across devices, and we keep a history of your finished games and simple statistics tied to your profile. If you send us a message or a bug report, we store what you send, including any files you choose to attach. The free version shows ads from Google AdMob, and Google collects some device data to show them. Buying Mouth Trap Plus removes the ads.

1. Playing without a profile

Your settings, saved game, win history, card ratings, custom decks, House Rules and a record of what you have unlocked are stored only on your device. We never receive them. Uninstalling the app deletes them.

If you share a deck as text, the app opens your device’s share sheet. You choose who receives it; we are not involved.

2. Optional Mouth Trap profile

A profile is optional. If you create one, we store:

  • your email address, used only to send your sign-in code and to identify your profile;
  • the profile name and emoji avatar you choose;
  • your custom decks (names, descriptions, colours and cards) and your House Rules presets;
  • your game history and statistics: for each finished game, the date, result, scores, rounds and simple counters such as words guessed, traps triggered and steals won, which decks were used, and the player and team names you typed in for that game (these are not linked to any other Mouth Trap account);
  • your current in-progress game, if you leave one unfinished, so it can be picked up on another signed-in device;
  • technical sign-in records kept by our authentication provider (for example the time of your last sign-in and the IP address used), to keep your profile secure.

We use this data only to provide the profile features: saving and syncing your decks and share links. We do not use it for advertising.

Shared decks. If you turn on a share link for a deck, anyone who has the link or code can see that deck’s name, description, cards and your profile name, and can save their own copy. You can turn the link off or delete the deck at any time; copies that others already saved are theirs.

Deleting your profile. In the app, open Profile and tap Delete Profile. This permanently deletes your profile, your saved decks, your House Rules presets, your game history and your share links. You can also delete it without the app at typedm.com/mouth-trap-delete-account, confirming with a code sent to your email. Signing out does not delete anything.

Profile data is stored with our backend provider, Supabase, on servers in Sydney, Australia.

3. Support requests, bug reports and suggestions

When you use Contact Support, Report a Bug or Suggest an Improvement, we store what you write, the category, and the email address if you give one. To help us fix problems we also attach the app version, platform, operating system version, device model, the screen you came from, a random identifier for your installation and, if you are signed in, your profile id. We use this only to answer you and improve the app, and delete it when it is no longer needed. Please never include payment card details in a message.

Attachments. In Report a Bug and Contact Support you can optionally attach up to three files (photos, screenshots, PDF or text files, up to 5 MB each) to help us understand a problem. The app never reads your photos or files on its own: only the files you pick are uploaded. They are stored privately with our backend provider, Supabase, and are seen only by the people at TypeDM who handle your report. Do not attach anything you would not want us to see, such as documents that show payment details or other people’s personal information.

Email notification. Each report is also sent as an email to our support inbox (with links to any attachments), so we can read and answer it. If you gave an email address we may reply to it.

4. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The free version of the app uses Google AdMob to show ads between games and optional reward ads. AdMob is operated by Google, which may collect and process:

  • device identifiers, such as the advertising ID on Android or, if you allow it, the IDFA on iPhone and iPad;
  • IP address and approximate location derived from it;
  • interactions with ads and basic app activity;
  • diagnostic and performance information.

Google uses this data to show and measure ads, limit how often you see them and prevent fraud. How Google uses data is described at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and in the Google Privacy Policy.

Your choices:

  • In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are used. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy choices (ads).
  • On iPhone and iPad, the app asks for permission before the IDFA is used. You can change this in the device’s Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
  • On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID in the device’s settings.
  • Mouth Trap Plus turns ads off completely.

Ads in the app are limited to content suitable for teenagers and older.

5. Purchases

Premium decks and Mouth Trap Plus are sold through Google Play and the Apple App Store. Payments are handled entirely by Google or Apple under their own privacy policies. We never see your payment details. The app only receives confirmation of what you have bought so it can unlock it. Purchases are linked to your store account, not to your Mouth Trap profile, and we do not store them on our servers.

6. Store reviews

The app may occasionally ask Apple or Google to show their rating prompt. Whether it appears and what you write is handled by Apple or Google; we don’t receive it through the app.

7. What we do not do

  • We do not ask for your contacts, microphone or precise location, and we never access your photos or files unless you choose to attach one to a report.
  • We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising.
  • We do not use analytics or crash-reporting services of our own.

8. Children

Mouth Trap is intended for players aged 16 and over, and some optional content is for adults only (marked 18+). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created a profile or sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Your rights

You can see and change your profile in the app and delete it at any time. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, or to object to its use: contact us and we will help. For data collected by Google for advertising, use the choices above or Google’s tools at myaccount.google.com.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
